Fashion is not a one size fits all. In a world vibrantly exposing the many sides and sizes of men and women, we celebrate bodies of all forms. The Greek philosopher Plato once said, “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.”

In recent years, men and women have seen beauty redefined by body positivity and an outpouring of self-love across the globe. Natural curves and even stretch marks are embraced as signs of strength and reminders of how powerful the human body is: It gives birth and has the to power to thrive through the human experience.

You are beautiful and do not let anyone else tell you otherwise.

The fashion industry has come a long way from its early stages when items were predominantly marketed towards the thin and tall. Many stores are now marketing towards plus-size women. These stores offer them chic and lovely outfits.

Plus-size and in-between size women (sizes 3-13) no longer have to hide in long oversized tunics. They now have choices like summer dresses, jeans and crop tops. In the past, these items have been rocked by celebrities like Paris Hilton and Rihanna.

Diversity in Fashion

Just like fashion trends evolve, so has the representation and treatment of different body types. Brands are including size variety and entrepreneurs have created clothing lines dedicated to plus-size women.

These brands celebrate women’s perfect and imperfect traits from love handles and postpartum stretch marks to skin color inclusivity. Because women come in all colors and sizes and fashion is not a one size fits all.

Two magnificent women who highlighted inclusivity in their brands are Melissa McCarthy and Rihanna.

Known for her comedic talent, Melissa McCarthy launched Seven7, an inclusive line of jeans for both men and women. The collection has a wide range of sizes that vary from XS to 24. Their website motto reads, “The Seven7 brand is about feeling fashionable in your clothing and comfortable in your own skin,” because everyone should feel fabulous in a pair of jeans.

Singer, songwriter, actor and entrepreneur, Rihanna revolutionized the beauty and fashion industry with the release of lingerie and makeup brands. Her inclusive makeup line Fenty Beauty and lingerie line Savage X Fenty have proven that being a fashionista means being diverse.

Rihanna has gone above and beyond just everyday fashion. Her brand produces plus-size lingerie, which is hard to find outside of Victoria’s Secret and Pink. The pieces are beautiful with high-quality material. The size range from XS to 3X. The Savage X Fenty website features women of all backgrounds showing off camis, teddys and sleepwear.
