February was filled with excitement, as many gathered to celebrate and show support for local Black History Month events. From painting sessions, to workshops, to celebrations, citizens of the Orange County area gathered together to commemorate this heritage. These are the top 10 Black History Month events.
“Paint and Sip with Nicole K” was a Black History themed event in which attendees relaxed and painted, sipping non-alcoholic beverages for a therapeutic afternoon in Virginia Avenue Park, Santa Monica, CA.
“Black on the Block” was a day-to-night market filled with Black owned business, pop up vendors at the Wisdome, an immersive art and music dome park.
The next event was a “Black History Month Workshop,” hosted in Anaheim, CA, where students could join and learn more about the culture behind Black History.
The California African American Museum in Los Angeles hosted the “Prosperity Market,” a celebration of chefs, entrepreneurs, and Black farmers, filled with all their favorite fresh vegetables, fruits, and assorted foods.
“Black History Month, Umoja 5k” was a virtual 5k event in which participants ran to commemorate unity and Black excellence.
Another event, organized by Somatic Soul Integration with Misty Powell, comprised wellness practices that combined movement and breathing.
The Los Angeles Black History Month Festival of 2022 was also an event to remember, with over 5,000 attendees. This event comprised marketing packages, panels, customer engagement areas, cultural activities, workshops and more.
The next event on the list is “The City of Compton’s Black History Celebration,” where citizens could enjoy live performances, food, art galleries and giveaways in celebration of Black excellence.
Last, the Black Student Union Presents: FIDM Artisan Market,” occurring on February 22, 2022, allowed for attendees to shop at a variety of different Black-owned businesses. LA Style Magazine invites readers to join in the celebration and commemorating Black History Month 2022.
