In some of the most chaotic times of our lives, it can be a challenge or even a tactless action to think about our well-being. More likely than not, life has been a progression of unpredictability that has stirred us away from the mental, physical and spiritual facets we deeply need to care for. No one ever expected to be in the middle of what seems to be an endless pandemic and further, where we will be another year from now.

With being so uncertain of what’s to come, taking the time to write a letter to your future self to open a year, two or even ten years from now can be constructive for so many reasons.

Why Should You Write to Your Future Self?

For starters, you can say anything in this letter; it’s only going to yourself. Whether that’s talking about where life is at the moment or what you’re having for dinner, go right ahead. Reflecting on some of the simplest moments can allow you to clear your head and focus on things that truly matter.

When looking back at these simple moments in the future, it can be a reminder to feel for this simplicity once again.

Being Grateful Can Make You Happier

Take this time to reflect on what you are most grateful for and those bits of appreciation for what you have. Gratitude encourages us to think positively and focus on the good in our life. It can eliminate all the toxic and unwelcoming emotions we may feel and create a pathway to an optimistic future.

Turn Your Dreams Into A Reality

You may be familiar with manifestation or the law of attraction, which was popularized by a 2006 bestselling book, The Secret. Writing a letter to yourself can work as a sublime manifestation technique.

Writing down your dream future can be utilized as a visualization tactic that can project a vision of where you are destined to be. You can even write this letter as though you already have everything you want in your life. Writing it all out will only lead you to believe that these aspirations are yours. Create your future and don’t hold back.

There is no better way to capsule some of the most precious memories in life than with a pen and paper.

How To Write a Letter To Your Future Self

There are countless different ways to go about this, but always use a technique that works best for you. Whether that be journaling with a pen and sealing it up or typing it down in your phone, there is no set way to produce your thoughts.
