There is such beauty to be found when women stick together to empower each other. Despite the struggles many women face, there is a light and hope to be found in unity. Fortunately, there are many women who have devoted their careers to help women overcome these challenges and live a meaningful life. These are 3 influential women who have made breakthroughs in the fields of philanthropy, education and business, and whose efforts have improved the lives of women all across the world:

Zainab Salbi

Named by People’s Magazine as “one of the 25 women changing the world.” She is an Iraqi-American women’s right activist, writer and public speaker. Salbi has transformed the lives of many as the founder of the non-profit organization, “Women For Women International.” Its goal is to empower women who are war and conflict survivors from countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, and Rwanda, by providing them with social and economic skills to transform their lives.

Diipa Khosla

The Indian born fashion and beauty influencer has gained the attention of over 1.4 million followers on Instagram. She has gained attention for her work as a rising influencer and also as the founder of the non-profit organization “Post for change.” Through her organization, Khosla aims to promote the UN’s sustainable development goals of gender inequality and women’s rights by using the global reach of social media. She is also an advocate for sexual rights and women’s mental health.

Elizabeth Barajas-Román

Elizabeth Barajas-Román is the CEO and president of “Women’s Funding Network,” which is the largest philanthropic network in the world dealing with gender equity and justice. This organization helps gender and justice advocates learn skills such as capacity building and strategy development. It employs feminist practices to combat systemic gender and racial inequality. For over 20 years, Román had been a leader in advocating for the health and rights of immigrant women. Additionally, she was also the CEO of the “Women’s Fund of Western Massachusetts.” Talk about an influential woman!

It is with love and optimism that we share this issue in such a time as this. L.A. STYLE announces our unwavering solidarity for the equality revolution; we join hands and hearts with our sisters and brothers who are oppressed by systemic racism and other injustices occurring due to the color of our skin. As Robert Frost once wrote, “The only way out is through.”
